KS · KS D 3706
Austenitic-ferritic (duplex) chromium-nickel-molybdenum-nitrogen stainless steel, the most widely used grade in the duplex family. Extensively used in offshore oil & gas piping and flanges for its resistance to pitting and stress-corrosion cracking in seawater/chloride environments, with a yield strength roughly double that of standard austenitic stainless steels (304/316). Not recommended above 300°C (embrittlement) or below -50°C (ductile-to-brittle transition).

Note: Correction needed: the Korean standard to use for this grade is KS D 3706 (stainless bars, which mirrors the JIS G4303/G4304 nomenclature term for term, e.g. STS304↔SUS304, STS316L↔SUS316L, STS329J3L↔SUS329J3L), not KS D 3752, which actually covers carbon steel for mechanical use (equivalent to JIS G4051/SM45C, unrelated to duplex stainless or pressure forgings). A Korean standard KS D 4123 also exists ("forged alloy steels for pressure vessels", equivalent to JIS G3203) which would be the most relevant standard for a forged duplex flange, but no precise duplex grade designation under KS D 4123 could be confirmed from a free public source; STS329J3L (KS D 3706) is therefore retained as the best publicly documented Korean designation for this family.
