A572 Grade 50

USApproximate match

ASTM · ASTM A572/A572M

Family of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) structural steels, produced by microalloying (Nb, V, Ti) and controlled or thermomechanical rolling. Used to reduce structural weight in bridges, cranes, high-rise buildings and mobile equipment where the strength-to-weight ratio is critical.

Note: The most widely used columbium-vanadium (Nb/V) HSLA grade in the United States for framing, bridges and beams. Yield strength of 50 ksi (345 MPa), commonly treated as a functional equivalent of S355/SM570 in distributor comparison charts, although ultimate strength is slightly lower than S355 (450 MPa min vs. 470-630 MPa).
