CEN · EN 10025-2:2019

Family of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) structural steels, produced by microalloying (Nb, V, Ti) and controlled or thermomechanical rolling. Used to reduce structural weight in bridges, cranes, high-rise buildings and mobile equipment where the strength-to-weight ratio is critical.

Note: Enhanced-toughness variant of S355 (Charpy ≥27 J at -20°C, versus +20°C for JR), used when cold resistance is required. Yield strength of 355 MPa up to 16 mm thickness, decreasing to 325 MPa between 63-80 mm. Placed in the HSLA family (alongside A572 Gr50 and SM570) as the closest entry point in strength, although EN 10025-2 technically classifies it as an unalloyed steel.
