SFVC2A

JPApproximate match

JIS · JIS G3202

Unalloyed carbon steel used for forged pressure piping components (flanges, fittings, valve bodies) in ambient to moderately elevated temperature service. It's the most common item in industrial carbon-steel piping bills of materials, serving as the baseline reference before selecting an alloy steel for more severe service (high temperature, low temperature, corrosive media).

Note: Correction to the original brief: the best-corroborated JIS designation for A105 is SFVC2A, not SFVC1 as initially suggested. A widely circulated ASTM/KS/JIS/DIN cross-reference table from distributors (also used to verify this batch) explicitly links A105 (UNS K03504) to SFVC2A/JIS G3202, with DIN equivalent 19Mn5 (1.0482); SFVC2A's mechanical values (Rp0.2 ≥245 MPa, Rm 490-640 MPa) are very close to A105's (250 MPa / 485 MPa min), which corroborates the equivalence. SFVC1, often incorrectly cited as A105's equivalent, actually corresponds to ASTM A181 Class 60 ("forgings for general piping", a less demanding application with lower mechanical strength — tensile ~400 MPa). JIS G3202 covers both pressure-vessel forgings and, in commercial practice, forged piping components (flanges/fittings).
