CEN · EN 10222-2
Unalloyed carbon steel used for forged pressure piping components (flanges, fittings, valve bodies) in ambient to moderately elevated temperature service. It's the most common item in industrial carbon-steel piping bills of materials, serving as the baseline reference before selecting an alloy steel for more severe service (high temperature, low temperature, corrosive media).

Note: Correction to the original brief: the correct EN 10222-2 designation for this family is P245GH (1.0352), not "P250GH" as initially suggested. "P250GH"/C22.8 (material 1.0460) is a common mix-up among distributors: that material actually falls under EN 10273 / DIN 17243 (hot-rolled bars, weldable fine-grain steels for pressure purposes), not EN 10222-2 (forgings). P245GH is the grade actually listed in EN 10222-2 ("Steel forgings for pressure purposes — Part 2: Ferritic and martensitic steels with specified elevated temperature properties"). The grade name encodes its minimum yield strength (245 MPa) followed by "GH" (guaranteed strength at elevated temperature). Note: maximum carbon (0.20%) is notably lower than A105's (0.35% max) — the two standards are not interchangeable without technical review (weldability in particular).
